| Japan Trip - Day 2-3 |
[Jun. 8th, 2008|03:46 pm] |
Sorry for the delay in posting! Things have been very crazy around here with respect to the overall busyness of everyone and everything!
This is the start of Day 2 Pictures
This is the start of Day 3 Pictures
I had a nice dinner on the top of our Hotel, the night of Day 1 (Start of Day 2). VERY NICE Restaurant, and as I was telling Richard; it was one of the nicest restaurants I had ever been to!
We went to a really awesome curry restaurant. I ended up getting level 4, but I do plan to try level 8 or 10 sometime...Just to see how awesome it is!
We went to Shibuya and saw the statue of Hachiko Statue, which is the dog who (according to legend), waitd for his master ever day in front of the Shibuya tations, and continued to do so for years even after his master has passed away. Hachiko on Wikipedia
KFC is very popular in Japan...Although they altered the Colonels appearance to be overall more Japanese looking
Japanese Architecture is very awesome looking!
Conveyor Belt Sushi is the easiest style of dining, as it requires no pointing, talking, or anything awkward to really operate and get food. It was funny in that over the last few days, even though we had enough money and enough places to dine; the ability to dine was severely hampered because we wanted to find menus with pictures due to our inability to speak the language.
I went to Mc.Donalds once...They actually did have an english menu (flipped on the other side of the picture shown). I wanted to try something unique to japan...As you see on #6; the Mc.Ebi or Mc.Shrimp! Quite Tasty with little chuncks of shrimp on the inside, fried. ~yum :3
Kobe Beef = Expensive = Yum! (This was served raw, then heated in front of us on a Japanese stone which was heated to 200 Degrees Celsius). We did also (while trying out the Shabu-Shabu Crab @ the resturant), try a nice steak of Kobe Beef. I didn't order this (as it was 200USD), but Richard did allow me the ability to have a taste of it...and I will say that it was the best piece of steak I had ever had. It was funny too, cause Richard said "This is crappy Kobe Beef", hahaha!
Some Notes:
Stitch (From lilo and stitch the movie), is SUPER SUPER Popular! Everywhere you look, you see him as either a shirt, costume, stuffed animal, or toy!
Shabu-Shabu is a very interesting and TOTALLY DIFFERENT style of cuisine (It was very nice to experience, but because I was unfamiliar, it was also very uncomfortable to try to understand).
After Midnight all the fu*king amazing cars come out (as you will see with the ONE picture I took); TONS of super luxurious cars made appearances at night.
Pimps are EVERYWHERE trying (NO MATTER WHAT), to get your business with there chicks! There was this one guy who harassed us down the street (while we were shopping),for a good 5 minutes even after saying no (and yes, he did actually speak English).
Anyway, time to enjoy the rest of the day! |

| Japan Trip - Day 1 |
[Jun. 6th, 2008|01:11 pm] |
As you all may know by now, I am in Tokyo, Japan.
Firstly, here is a subnote on Day 0, which I forgot to mention (annotated Picture):
We went to Starbucks. The drink on the left is a tall and the one on the right is a Venti...No wonder why Americans are getting overweight, we are almost forced into accepting more than we need. Sadly, drink prices are the exact same as they would've been in America, regardless of the size difference.
Day 1 was very full and interesting! We woke up around 12pm, took showers, got ready; then ventured to the JR Hamamatsucho Station for a day in akiharabara (Japanese Electronics Town).
Navigating the JR Stations was kinda daunting at first (trying to calculate the cost for regular train fair to and from a place with non roman letters = hard). But after looking around a bit, we found a Romaji (Japanese converted into roman letters), Chart which helped us calculate cost for the train...$1.50! Not bad :)
This is a pic outside of the JR Akiharabara (Japanese Electronics Town), Substation. Quite impressive and full of shops! (We ended up spending the entire day in Akiharabara). Any type of electronics you wanted or needed is here. When we were looking around there would be small shops dedicated to one thing. Eg. LED Shop, Switches Shop, Transformer Shop, etc..etc..
Although alot of electronics were had, there was equally (if not more), porn! NSFW Pic of an Elevator we were on
There were some things I really wanted to take pictures of, like this chick who was advertising for a Theme Restaurant (She was wearing a maid uniform with cat ears and a tail).
We did end up going to a similar theme restaurant, named " Cafe with Cat ". Where all the waitresses and cooks (all women) had a maid uniform, cat ears, and a tail. VERY Cute...Sadly, they had a no pictures policy...but in the part of playing a 'stupid american', I did snap one photo of the menu.
After eating a light snack (we only went there for the catgirls), we bought a few items and left the place. Richard was lucky as heck, as he jacked an AWESOME Glass cup from the restaurant...I asked to give him 40 bucks for the cup, but sadly he said no. We may have to go back and get another one :)
We found a nice park randomly :)
We found a homeless person at the park (sleeping)
And we found toy vending machines!
Anyway, off for day 2, peace! |

I am in Tokyo Japan! This is a link to the photo archives from the trip!
Link to Pictures Here
I am not one to chat...(plus, there is a lot to do and little time to do it all), but I will annotate a few photos :)
We went to this small Japanese stand up restaurant, but since we didn't have a translator or any way to decipher the menu, we ordered from pictures of the items. Dinner was amazingly cheap for Downtown Tokyo...only 5.50 US
Anyway, we started to eat our dinner, but since we really didnt know how to eat it, I had to figure out a way to ask her help. There was a small cup, full of a soy sauce like sauce, but we didnt know what to do with it. I had pointed to the sauce, and she was trying hard to help, but I still couldn't understand. After a minute of confusion, we finally figured out that A. We had to take the blanched noodles, put them into the light sauce, then after the noodles were completed, take the small hot water pitcher, fill up the small sauce bowl, and down the sauce/water! Very tasty!

7/11's are super popular in Tokyo :

And it seems like all information related shows are gameshows!
Also, if you are in Japan...We are located right near the Tokyo Tower, at the Prince Park Tower Tokyo Hotel. |

| Memories + Food + 1/4Polish = Excellent Easter Memories |
[Mar. 23rd, 2008|01:06 am] |
My dad and I had made some killer barszcz (English Pronunciation = borscht), Today. We have a lot of good family recipes, and the one we used was from my grandmother (my Father's Mother, RIP). It is a polish dish that is quite fatty, salty, and tart (with a sharp vinegar like taste). Very traditional Easter dish, we decided to make a day early...
When I was a small kid, we would go up to Niagara to celebrate the Polish Easter Holiday, Święconka (English Pronunciation = sh-ve-yen-sohn-ka). It was almost a right of passage, when my grandparents and parents (about the age of 14 or 15), allowed me to celebrate the festival up in the church cafeteria...where the adults were celebrating and enjoying some of the excellent polish goods.
Real borscht (like my grandmother use to make), is all about the Zur(Ryemeal Sour...Usually only found in Polish Shoppes), Horseraddish, and buttermilk. Thankfully my father had picked up a can of Zur the last time we visited family up in Niagara Falls, NY a long while back!
Here is a link to a recipe I found online that is similar to ours , except ours uses the Zur; which gives it a real polish rye taste. (Link)
Enjoy! |

| VHDL |
[Nov. 28th, 2007|03:24 am] |
Here is the code for a project I just was working on, for those curious about my school curriculum :
Final Project Code - ALU & Counter
Of course, this is only about 1/2 of the total project. I still have to write the corresponding paper (~15pages).
We are programming that VHDL code on this :

For everyone that has tried to keep in touch with me, I apologize. This and the other projects I have been working on (and got great grades with), have been consuming any availability I have to do anything! Including converse over aim/phone.
In two weeks it will be all over for this semester...I won't know what to do with the free time! :O
On a related note : I hate software debouncing... |
